Education in South Kingsmead will be looked after by Priory Rise School, which opens in September 2008 providing places for children aged 4+ to 11, a nursery opening in January 2009 and wrap around childcare. Those children in secondary education attend Hazeley School, which serves South Kingsmead. There are also schools in Whaddon village and the nearby town of Bletchley.
The Westcroft shopping centre serves this fast growing area, with its supermarket and other shops and restaurant outlets.
To the south of the development is Bletchley, famed for the nearby Bletchley Park, the home of the code breakers during World War II and the birthplace of modern computing and communications. The town, which houses the Brunel shopping centre and a large superstore, is also home to the Blue Lagoon nature reserve and a stretch of the Grand Union Canal.
Further west, the village of Whaddon is at the centre of the attractive, rural, ancient Whaddon Chase, famous for horse riding events and rallies. The A421 road runs through the Chase to the county town of Buckingham.
